Power cut off in entire Ilocos Norte due to ‘Ineng’
As Typhoon ‘Ineng’ downed electric transmission lines and toppled numerous electric poles, Governor Imee Marcos is appealing to the Department of Energy (DOE), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Energy Development Corporation-Burgos (EDC), North Luzon Renewable Energy Corporation (NLREC), Northwind and several power companies to help in the immediate restoration of power supply in Ilocos Norte.
In a text message, NGCP explained that the toppled electric tower in Brgy. Nagtupakan, along Sta. Maria River, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur resulted to the power outage currently experienced in the entire province of Ilocos Norte.
“We cannot give yet estimated time of restoration of power as the electric site is under seven feet deep raging water flood. Motorized boat can’t get thru the area…we hope that the weather condition improves so that we can enter and fix the toppled electric tower,” NCGP added.
Meanwhile, Governor Marcos has also been calling on local gasoline stations in Ilocos Norte to check their stockpile of fuel and replenish it to ensure steady and reliable supply for generators in hospitals, important installations and to be used during rescue operations. –Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, Communications and Media Office
